Nostalgic and the Unusual – No. 02 – September 26, 2017

I gathered all the nostalgia pictures that I have collected over the years and added a few of the unusual pictures that I have and will offer them for viewing in this collection. Also, since I have an extensive collection of pictures that I have acquired over the years, a lot of strange picture will also be added to this collection and thus called Nostalgia and the Unusual. Enjoy.

I only getting one in the U. S. Marines and ours had an indent in the tag that was to be used to ID dead Marines. You would place the dog tags in the person’s mouth and slam the jaw shut so that body people could ID the poor dead person if no one was around.

A Nostalgic Moment – Central Park – March 31, 2016

A Nostalgic Moment – Central Park – March 29, 2016

Today’s Nostalgic Moment is a look back, now and then, at Central Park. Most have a favorite spot in Central Park but most of the pictures deal with the Promenade by Row A Boat Lake where you rented boats on a warm afternoon. As little kids from Yorkville, we used to go fishing for sun fish in Row A Boat Lake. Enjoy some Nostalgic Moments of Central Park, Now and Then.

The old Fink’s Commercial Bakery was on 76th or 77th Street, east of York Avenue. This was as close as possible to return to those special moments when you stopped by to pick up a loaf of rye bread to bring home for your mother. Oh yeah! I would stop by the candy store on the same block to buy a cold Pepsi Cola to drink on the way home while you were chewing a piece of rye bread.

Here is a front view of the old style milk truck that were a frequent visitors to those houses in Yorkville when milk was delivered. I remember on those winter mornings when the weather was pretty cold and you could see the milk bottles with their cardboard caps pop in the cold weather and the cream ooze out the top of the bottle.
